Bibby and Arla "The Cream of the Crop"
Elland, 31st March 2008. Bibby Distribution, the UK´s largest privately owned supply chain logistics company has further increased its property portfolio with the lease of a new 126,022 square foot warehouse in Elland.
Negotiations with key customer, Arla Foods, the UK´s leading dairy company warranted the transfer of their current warehousing and transport operations to a higher grade warehouse. The implementation plan to transform the new build, virgin Elland site into the new home for ambient products for both Arla Foods and the Bradford transport operations is now complete.
20,000 racked spaces have been installed, build works and fit-outs are complete and the new warehouse management system (CLAWS 2) is in place. Pallets of stock are already in situ, and this figure increases dramatically on a daily basis as stock continues to pour in from both Settle and Northallerton's Creamery's and from stock movements from the current operation at Bradford.
Gary Sharp, Divisional Director commented: "The whole project, from Bibby's side, has been successfully managed by Darren Shooter. His attention to detail, thoroughness and commitment has proved invaluable during the implementation of this extensive project."
Paul Lloyd, Logistics Director for Arla Foods said: "The partnership with Bibby has developed over the past 11 years. The new facility at Elland is the next stage of the partnership and will enable both companies to further improve efficiencies within the supply chain. This project has been an excellent example of Bibby working in partnership with Arla Foods to deliver a seamless new site implementation. Arla Foods and Bibby personnel have worked as a team throughout, helping to ensure the success of this venture."
